AstonRX FAQ

How may we help you?

General

Will I have enough energy to exercise?
It's a common misconception that we may curl up in the fetal position and feel lethargic and weak when we ‘diet’. On some programs, this may be the case, however, the program is structured precisely to create changes in the way your metabolism functions, so you will, in fact, have more energy to exercise. With the intermittent nature of the scheduling and specific timing of meals, you will experience (by around day 5) a boost in your metabolic rate and growth hormone output, giving you an almost euphoric feeling. Your blood sugar will be more stable than ever as your body switches over to burning stored body fat as its primary fuel source. The result – fat loss and endless energy!
VERY! I used to say that nutrition was 80 per cent of the fat loss equation, however, I now know it’s 50-50 exercise and nutrition. Contrary to popular belief, the exercise is not about burning calories. Regular exercise changes the way your metabolic system functions – increasing insulin sensitivity (your muscles have a bigger appetite to draw sugar from your blood) and regenerating mitochondria (the ‘engine’ within your cells). Basically the more muscle you have, the more metabolically-active tissue you have and the more fat you will burn, even at rest. Nutrition makes a great difference to improving half of your metabolic function, but exercise fulfils the other half. Consistency, intensity and frequency are imperative. Exercise is also important to improve overall strength and mobility.
Along with your personalised nutrition plan, you will have access to our variety of on-demand workouts. Our team of highly trained fitness professionals have created dynamic workouts for all fitness levels to help you achieve your physical activity recommendations each week. Select from categories such as Stretch & Recovery, Muscle Activation, HIIT and Strength, and follow along at home.

If you are unfamiliar with strength-based exercise, or you have specific injuries or disabilities, we recommend that you contact a local fitness professional for guidance.
Are the supplements important?
In a word – VERY! The supplement regime (selection and timing) has been customised for your specific needs. Each has a purpose, from helping you to manage blood sugar and cravings to building a healthier gut, enhancing your digestive health and improving your cholesterol profile (if required). If you do not take them as outlined in your program, you risk sub-standard results.
Yes, absolutely. The program is gluten-free.
Yes, we are able to provide you with vegetarian alternatives so you can achieve your goals while following a vegetarian diet. We do not recommend the program for strict vegans.
Throughout the 28-day program, you will also be privy to an exclusive education process, personally designed by Donna Aston, to provide you with the knowledge and skills to maintain your results for a lifetime. Once you’ve completed the initial 28-day program, our support and guidance continues with your customised LIFE Program membership plan.

Following completion, you will have the option of registering for the Aston Rx membership. This monthly or annual membership provides you with a customised LIFE Program meal plan, which you can follow to maintain and/or continue achieving results. This membership also provides ongoing access to your original 28 day plan, our private forums, a range of clinical supplements, recipes, blog posts, online fitness and, of course, our ongoing support.

If you haven’t quite reached your goal, or if you need another ‘boost’ to reach your next goal in months to come, members have the option to complete a program repeat at a heavily discounted price.
There are two supplements included in the program, which have been selected to help you reach your goals and improve overall health. Based on your pathology results, our team may recommend other supplements to correct any out-of-range biomarkers. For further information on the supplements you’re using during the program and their health properties, download the information sheet here.
The 28-day program is designed to re-train your body to dip into your ‘reserve tank’, or stored body fat, as its primary source of fuel. Once you become proficient at this, the result is reduced appetite and rapid fat loss. Fat loss is, however, just a welcome side-effect of your metabolism functioning to its optimum. Other often unexpected benefits are reduced stress levels, better sleep, more energy and improved gut health.

At AstonRx we offer three programs which include:

  • Personalised menu guide, with all quantities calculated to suit your body composition
  • Exclusive access to daily menu guide
  • Daily blogs and video bites from Donna Aston, designed to educate and inspire you
  • Focus on optimising gut health, stabilising blood sugar, correcting metabolic dysfunction, reducing inflammation, and enhancing fat loss
  • Access to our online fitness, with new workouts uploaded each week

  1. Register online (registrations close 10 days prior to the commencement date)
  2. Once you have registered, you will receive a pathology script via email. Take this to one of our authorised collection centres ASAP. The test is to be done after an 8-12 hour fast (water only). If your probiotic displays a 'refrigerate' sticker, please place in the fridge upon arrival.
  3. Enter your current weight into your Dashboard and we will use an internal formula to calculate your body composition.
  4. Once received, we will upload your pathology results to your Dashboard to complete your profile. One of our team will be in touch should any markers be out of range.
  5. Your Dashboard will show a countdown timer indicating the exact time you will have full access to your program (2 days prior to your commencement date.)
Both our 28-day Metabolic and QuickStart Fat Loss programs are designed to give you the education about your body, transforming the way you approach your health and fat loss to achieve renewed energy, improved sleep, increased strength, mobility, and reduced stress levels. However, there are a few key differences.

The Metabolic Fat Loss Program includes pathology testing and two supporting supplements. It is a customized program, that is based on your personal metabolic profile. Through the pathology testing, we identify key biological markers, allowing us to focus on correcting metabolic dysfunction, which may have derailed your previous weight loss efforts.

The QuickStart Fat Loss Program is simply our Metabolic program stripped bare – without the pathology testing and supporting supplements*. This program is best for those who feel that they are in good health and simply wish to shed a few excess kilos.

*Pathology and/or supplements may be added during or after registration if desired.
Unlike all other nutrition, exercise or fat loss programs, AstonRx programs are tailored specifically to you, and you only! The information provided by each individual during the registration process forms a critical role in building your customised program from scratch, so there are no short-cuts. It’s therefore not really feasible to provide a one-size-fits-all as a trial prior to commencing.

Gut Rehab

How do I know if I need Gut Rehab?
Symptoms of dysbiosis (the imbalance of good and bad bacteria in the gut) can be subtle and severity varies between individuals. Common signs to look out for is regular constipation or diarrhea, bloating, nausea, bad breath and indigestion. Other health issues related to dysbiosis may vary significantly, from auto-immune disorders through to inflammation and mental health issues.
Can I follow this if I am vegetarian?
Absolutely! There will be a variety of vegetarian options to choose from.
What’s the difference between a prebiotic and a probiotic?
Following the microbiome mapping test you may be prescribed a probiotic. A probiotic is a supplement that contains billions of bacteria that are commonly found in healthy gut flora. The aim of a probiotic is to add bacteria to the microbiome. Prebiotics feed the bacteria in the gut that we want to be flourishing. Prebiotics are mostly found in plant foods that have been included in the dietary component of the program.
What is a Microbiome Mapping Test? Do I have to do it?
The test consists of a single stool sample that is done in the comfort of your home. It is necessary to do so that we can assess the health of your gut and prescribe the correct solution. Without the test results, we are not able to customise your program with any accuracy.
Is this a weight loss program?
Weight loss is not a focus of this program; however, you may find as your gut health improves that any excess body fat will shift.
Can I eat like I normally would on the program?
Diet is extremely important in restoring and maintaining gut health. On this program we will provide you with a range of foods that have been specifically chosen to improve the composition of your gut flora. A microbiome-supporting diet is one that is limited in processed carbohydrates, sugars and alcohol, and is high in fibre and nutrients. This way of eating is necessary to restore the equilibrium in your gut.
What is the difference between the Gut Rehab program and the 28-day program?
The 28-Day Program is focussed on improving your metabolism to get you into the fat burning zone and improve metabolic health related markers, such as cholesterol and blood glucose. The Gut Rehab Program is focussed on improving your microbiome, which will have tremendous benefits on your overall health. Benefits may include improved digestion, immune system and mood, and fat loss if required.
I suffer from IBS, can my symptoms worsen?
IBS is a loosely diagnosed ‘syndrome’, generally without a pre-identified cause. If you suffer from IBS, it’s strongly recommended that you bypass any guesswork and have the Complete Microbiome Mapping test done to identify the species of bacteria that may be causing your symptoms, then follow the correct protocol to correct your gut environment. Any sudden changes to the diet can cause gastrointestinal upsets. The program is designed to ultimately improve common issues such as bloating, diarrhea, constipation, indigestion and fatigue.
What is glutamine and why is it recommended?
Glutamine is an amino acid (the building blocks of protein), and also has a crucial role in the immune system. Glutamine is an energy source of for the cells in the gut, and since the gut is a huge contributor to the functioning of the immune system, fuels our immune system too. Glutamine also helps to maintain the barrier between the gut and the rest of the body. This prevents toxins and harmful bacteria from moving outside of the gut. Glutamine has been shown to be effective in treating symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. Recommended as a supplement to support gut health, muscle recovery and immunity.
